ichael Joseph “Wubby” O’Connor, Age: 77; a native of: Massachusetts and a longtime resident of: Mobile, Alabama died July 26, 2024 at his residence.
Michael is survived by his wife of 34 years, Irene O’Connor; children, Jill Boudreaux (Paul) and Jonathan Stern; granddaughter, Magdalene Boudreaux; siblings, Ann Rother (Steve), Pat O’Connor, and Kathy Andrzejewski (Dr. Chester); nieces and nephews, Nicky Andrzejewski, Michael Andrzejewski, Danielle Lesperance (Brian), Erin Rother, Brian Rother, and Kelly Nucelli (Andrew); great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyle Rother, Tucker Nucelli, Jackson Nucelli, Tommy Lesperance, and Alice Lesperance; special friends, Steve Stern, Dr. David Egleston, George and Dianne Yatkaukas, and Jim Stoffel; his Spiritual son, Bakumba Green; and his beloved cat Squeaky. He was preceded in death by his father, James O’Connor, mother, Uriel O’Connor, and one brother, James O’Connor.
Michael attended Cardinal Newman high school in Columbia, SC; St. Mary’s College in St. Mary, KY; and St Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, MD. He served as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Charleston, SC, until being granted a request for laicization. He then continued working in various forms of lay ministry, and in 2020, he retired as chaplain of Allen Memorial Nursing Home in Mobile, AL.
Michael was ever the compassionate counselor with a big heart, always taking time to talk and offer prayer for anyone in need, even to the very end.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in the Murphy Center at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
