On August 25th, 2024, Butch Swindle Hardin, retired comedian and dedicated father, passed away peacefully at his home in Mobile, Alabama, with his two sons and loyal companion, Bandit, by his side. Butch is preceded in death by his father, Rich; mother, Edna; and son, Butch S. Hardin, Jr. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Pamela Michelle; son, Thomas Hunter; son, Jacob Wesley; and daughter-in-law, Kristin Hardin.
Butch was born on May 29th, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama. Butch grew up in Midfield, Alabama, where he enjoyed spending time with his father hunting and fishing, watching football with his mother, and playing baseball. After graduating Midfield High School in 1975 and RETS Electronic Institute shortly thereafter, Butch worked for the "telephone company" for almost forty years before reluctantly retiring (we all know that he wasn't ready to hang up the boots) but his main passions in life were his two sons and helping others. When his two sons got older, Butch missed being at the ball park. In 2011, he started volunteering with the Buddy Ball League at Westside Park in Mobile, AL, and every year thereafter. He was also an active member of the local chapter of the AT&T Pioneers, where he especially enjoyed giving back to veterans of our armed forces, and also gathering and giving out school supplies to children in need. For someone who pretended to not like people, Butch cared deeply for others, loved to meet new people, and genuinely enjoyed giving back to his community. Butch left a lasting impression on everyone that he met, and if you were fortunate to have him as a friend, he would always be there for you. As a father, Butch was dedicated, loving, supportive, and he will be celebrated by his family for the amazing person and father that he was. Butch will be remembered for his sense of humor, beautiful smile, kind heart, giving nature, and dedication to his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, September 6, 2024, from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Mobile, AL followed by a short graveside service. Visitation will be at 1:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Phone: 251-661-1333
