Patricia Jean Parks, 84, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. She was born on June 2, 1940, in Franklin County, Russellville, Alabama, to Grace Stancel Freeman and William Herman Freeman. Patricia was a woman of deep faith who will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her beliefs and her love for her family.
Patricia was born in Russellville, Alabama, and as a young child, moved to Chickasaw, Alabama. After marriage, she relocated to Mobile, Alabama, where she became a dedicated homemaker and caretaker. She was the loving wife to the late Selden Lebaron Parks, Sr., and a devoted mother to her children, Selden Lebaron Parks, Jr. (Barbara), Angela Kearley Taylor (James), and Vincent Freeman Parks.
Her greatest joys came from serving others and nurturing her family. She was a woman who loved to laugh, sing, dance, play the piano, write in her religious journals, and engage in conversations with everyone she met, for she never met a stranger.
Patricia lived her life guided by her faith in God. She was known for her strong spirit and desire to help others, often sharing scripture and her love of the Lord with those around her. Her family and community were the fortunate recipients of her kindness and generosity.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Selden Lebaron Parks, Sr.; her son, Vincent Freeman Parks; her brother, Robert Freeman; and her sister, Marie Williamson. She is survived by her children, Selden Lebaron Parks, Jr. (Barbara) and Angela Kearley Taylor (James); her sibling, Bonnie Sue Walker Shields (Clifford); and her grandchildren, Kali Jenkins, Kevin Parks, Katrina Jeter (Tony), Brandy Pate (Todd), Shane Kearley (Morgan), Brittany George, and Whittany Annan (Phil). She is also survived by countless loved ones, including nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Funeral services celebrating Patricia's life will take place on Saturday, September 28, at 10 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel in Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the special caregivers, nurses, and staff who cared for Patricia with great love and respect during her final journey. "We are eternally grateful."
May Patricia rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. And though her earthly journey has ended, we find comfort knowing that the gates of Heaven opened wide, and it was surely a glorious day as she met her Lord and Savior.
