Lien Easterling (née Vo Thi Tau) passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born on December 22, 1951, in Go Cong, Vietnam, to Vo Van Tot and Nguyen Thi Nau. She immigrated to the United States in 1972 after marrying LTC Dale A. Easterling (U.S. Army, Retired) of Mobile, AL. She is survived by her husband Dale of 53 years, her three daughters: Dena (Michael) Erfurdt of Fredericksburg, VA, Joanne (Michael McDonough) Easterling of Kennesaw, GA, and Jennifer (Craig) Brabson of Nashville, TN, granddaughter Sydney Erfurdt (Daniel) Beauvais, twin granddaughters Jenna and Jamie Erfurdt, and a great-granddaughter.
Lien is also survived by her sisters, Vo Thi Phich of Falls Church, VA, Nguyen Thi Le Dung of Go Cong, Vietnam, and Nguyen Thi My Hong of Go Cong, Vietnam, and her large extended family across the globe: in Vietnam, Germany, Japan, Alabama, Arizona, California, Washington, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Lien is known for her loving and sweet spirit. She loved her family unconditionally and had a special ability to make friends wherever she was due to her kind nature. One of the many ways she shared her love was in the kitchen. Lien loved to cook for her family and loved ones, whether it was her native Vietnamese food, or one of the many international cuisines she picked up in her life with her natural talent in the kitchen. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and she enjoyed connecting with her communities at Vietnamese Obedience Baptist Church and Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church. She often found humor in the simple things in life and never failed to make people smile. She will be remembered for her witty humor and remarkable gift to inspire love and kindness in each person she connected with. She will be deeply missed by everyone she knew.
