John Charles Sullivan of Mobile, AL, passed suddenly at his home on January 13, 2025.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Wanda Sullivan, biological parents Doyle Cheek & Jan Mertel and his brother, Michael Mertel. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 17 years, Janeen Thornton-Sullivan; his children: Jahrad & Valarae Sullivan, Michael & Justin Thornton; his grandchildren: Ciara, Kaylee, Jacob, Connor, Sophia, Heaven, Aleigha and Aubrey; his brother Doyle (April) Cheek; sister Brenda Cheek, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
John was good at everything he did. He was an Eagle Scout, a successful bar owner, amazing at woodworking and a pillar of the community, always helping those in need. Most importantly, he was a family man who adored Janeen, his children and grandkids and they equally loved him.
He will be remembered by many as a lover of all animals, a huge Alabama football fan, a proud Trumpster and a constant jokester.
The family cordially invites friends to join them for a visitation on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, immediately followed by a service.
Radney Funeral Home has been entrusted with John’s arrangements.
