Mrs. Monaletta Jane McCracken
February 1, 1940 - April 12, 2025
Monaletta Jane Erichsen McCracken, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the age of 85. Born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Mony carried the warmth of her Midwestern roots wherever life took her.
A 1958 graduate of Central High School in Aberdeen, Mony went on to train as an X-ray technician at Aberdeen General Hospital. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill McCracken, in Lakeland, Florida — beginning a devoted partnership that would span 64 years.
Mony is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her son Scott (late wife Vicki) of Portland, Oregon; her daughter Dana (late husband Mark) of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mony will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, and deep sense of hospitality. Whether she was hosting family dinners, baking and sharing her famous cinnamon sourdough bread, or preparing meals for those in need, she gave from the heart. Her home was always open — a place of comfort and refuge for all. Her legacy of service lives on through the missionary-support yard sale she founded, which continues to make an impact today.
February 1, 1940 - April 12, 2025
Graveside Service APR 18. 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (CT), Interment will take place at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery 6100 Three Notch Rd Mobile, AL 36619.
