Steven G. Wells

November 11, 1960 - July 9, 2025November 11, 1960 - July 9, 2025
Steven Gerald Wells, born November 11, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 64. He was the beloved son of the late Gloria B. Wells and Robert J. Wells Sr., and was raised “down the Bay” in a lively home as one of twelve siblings. He attended Williamson High School, where he played football and tennis, and remained a proud member of the Class of 1980. Steven dedicated over 26 faithful years as a store supervisor at Dixie Supply, where he was recognized for his integrity and strong work ethic. He built positive relationships with customers and coworkers alike and was always willing to offer assistance. His workplace became a second family, and he remained committed to being a dependable and dedicated employee throughout his career. Raised in the Catholic faith at Little Flower Church, Steven deepened his spiritual walk and made a public declaration of his faith on April 20, 2025—Resurrection Sunday—by joining Nazaree Full Gospel Church. His decision was a testament to the quiet strength of his relationship with Christ. Known for his sense of humor, contagious laugh, and legendary cooking, Steven’s love language was feeding others—whether a full meal or just a plate of something made with care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria B. Wells and Robert J. Wells Sr.; his siblings, Anita Williams, Mary Wells, Charles Wells, and Guyjoseph Wells; and his beloved in-laws, Mary J. Driscoll and James Driscoll. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 31 beautiful years, Jamye Wells; his children, Steven Evans, Justin (Shantera) Wells, and Jayla Wells; his grandchildren, Kaylee and Kali Wells, and Aja Calhoun-Evans; and his beloved fur-grandbabies, Kyng Wells and Asa “Buddy” Wells. He is also survived by his siblings: Wayne Wells, Robert J. (Corina) Wells Jr., David (Brandi) Wells, Gregory Wells, Estilete Allen, Lolita Rivers, and Gloria Tartt; his devoted brother-in-law, Vincent (Tracy) Driscoll; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and lifelong friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
