Elizabeth Linda Calhoun, age 77, was born on November 15,1947 in Bay Springs, MS to Linton L. Matthews and Cleo Hancock Matthews. Linda departed this life on August 16, 2025 while in the care of Saad's Hospice.
Linda is at peace at last and free of pain, which plagued her body for so many years. Linda endured being totally bed ridden for many years and never got to experience many of the adventures and family times that most people enjoy. She did, however, make the best of the hand she was dealt. Linda never had any children, but she so deeply loved all her family and her face would always light up, even in her last days, when she was talking about any of her family. Linda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Linton and Cleo Matthews, her brother, Larry Matthews, sister-in-law, Susan Matthews and two half-brothers, Harold Matthews and Harrison Matthews. Linda is survived by her sister, Carolyn Bullock and her brother-in-law, Mike Bullock. She is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Deana Crim (Shannon), Janika Davis (Neal), Dairica Odom (Chey), Kimberly Loftin (Matt) and Chris Matthews. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Linda is also survived by her very special friend and caregiver of approximately twenty-five years, Russell Wittner. The family will be forever grateful for his compassion and care over the years.

A viewing and gathering of family and friends will be held at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home on August 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. A commitment service will be at graveside at Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road in the Garden of Peace.
