Dorothy (DOT) Jean Rotch Baxley was born in Rabun, Alabama, on February 12, 1934, to Floy R. and Zuline Corona Hadley Rotch. She lived there until 1942, when she and her family relocated to Chickasaw, Alabama where she spent the rest of her life. Dot graduated from Murphy High School and immediately set out to become a career woman. Her most rewarding position was with Courtaulds in Axis, Alabama, where she began as a secretary, became Administrative Assistant, and Manager of IRS Accounting responsibilities. She remained there until her retirement after 30 years with them. Dot was a very devoted and active member of The First Baptist Church of Chickasaw throughout her entire life. She especially loved working with the children and the seniors. Working in her yard was one of Dot's favorite pastimes; she spent many hours planting, pruning and rearranging her yard. Enjoying the outdoors, she loved taking walks around her neighborhood as well as at the beach at Fort Morgan. Dot passed away quietly on August 27, 2025, with her beloved niece, Lisa, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Susan Baxley and brother-in-law Jerry Willis by her side. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Idalene, and her cherished husband Edward Earl Baxley. Left to cherish beautiful memories of Dot are niece Lisa Jean Willis Doyle, her brother and sister-in-law Rick and Susan Baxley, brother-in-law Bill Baxley, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Frances Willis and numerous nieces and nephews.
