Roger Mason

March 18, 1951 — October 7, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and peace that we announce the passing of Roger Lee Mason on October 7, 2025, at the age of 74. Roger was born on March 18, 1951, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to Ralph and Alalie Mason. He graduated from Vigor High School in 1970 and soon after married the love of his life, Ginger Sue Rush, on April 21, 1971. Together, they built their home in Eight Mile, Alabama, and were blessed with three daughters. Roger was a devoted husband and a loving father. He worked as a drywaller for more than 41 years. His craftsmanship and work ethic were unmatched. He was proud of his trade and widely respected-not only for the excellence of his work, but for the dedication and integrity he poured into it. Above all, Roger will be remembered for his legacy of love, selflessness, kindness, and strength. He cherished life's simple joys: sitting by a fire, listening to the rain from the porch, and cheering on his Alabama Crimson Tide-Roll Tide! His deepest devotion was always to his family. He loved his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren with a love that asked for nothing in return. Roger is survived by his daughters, Cassie Skidmore (Josh) and Keri Gibson (Jason); his sister Evelyn Wilks (Steve); his brother William Gray Mason (Janice); his grandchildren Logan, Ginger, Kaylee, Sandy, Jax, and Fareeda; his great-grandchildren Talon and Tatum; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Mason and Alalie Rester; his beloved wife Ginger Sue Rush Mason; his daughter Chasity Gail; his brothers George Cleveland Mason and Donald Keith Mason; his sisters Delores Mason Gardner and Melissa Mason Kruse. He leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, kindness, and strength. His legacy is simple (just like him) but powerful. He loved like Jesus, and that love will never be forgotten. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
