WIlliam Holladay

September 27, 1949 — January 7, 2026
William Manning Holladay Jr., lovingly known by many as "Billy, Doc, PawPaw, and Pop," passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on September 27, 1949, Billy lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and hard work. Billy graduated from B.C. Rain High School and continued his education at Yancey Community College. He proudly served nearly six years in the Army Reserves. Following his military service, he returned to Sears, where he worked faithfully as a Service Technician for 44 years until his well-earned retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Billy had a deep love for fishing and hunting. Some of his greatest joys were spent fishing with his sons, grandchildren, and friends, and hunting alongside his beloved wife, sons, and grandchildren. Billy and Beverly cherished their time together at the hunting camp, where they enjoyed both the hunt and the quiet moments of relaxation. Billy was a longtime member of First Baptist Tillman's Corner in Mobile, Alabama. He faithfully served as a greeter and volunteered his time and talents during the church's sanctuary remodel. Above all else, Billy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Beverly Holladay; his sons: William (Jenny) M. Holladay III (Trey) and Jeremy (Cheryl) Holladay; his sisters: Susan (Leonard) Bankester, Gina Mason, and Annelle (Byron) Thames; brother-in-law, Donald Scarcliff; his grandchildren: Cody (Anslie) Goolsby, Triston (Addison) Holladay, Tristina (Steven) Kelley, Jaxon Holladay, Reyse Holladay, Trent Holladay, Cade Holladay and Jamison (Sierra) Morris; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Manning Holladay Sr., and his mother, Jennie McMillan Holladay. Billy will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, wonderful grandfather, sweet brother, and devoted friend. His contagious personality, passion for hunting and fishing, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
