Sylvia Sue Barnett (née Filbert), age 81, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on January 22, 1945, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Sylvia lived a life filled with love, dedication to her family, and a passion for making meaningful connections.
Sylvia was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Morris Filbert and Ellie Filbert. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Filbert Jr., and her cherished daughter, Abby Anderson. Despite these losses, Sylvia's enduring strength and love for her family remained a cornerstone of her life.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Vickery; her daughters Suzanne Clark; and her sons Christopher Cornelius IV and James "Dono" Barnett, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia's family was the heart of her world. She found immense joy in cooking for them during holidays, creating cherished memories around the dinner table that will be treasured forever.
Sylvia was deeply involved in the Special Needs Athlete's Program and shared many joyful years bowling alongside her son James "Dono" Barnett. Her commitment to this program reflected her generous spirit and dedication to supporting others.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 12noon Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Interment immediately following at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery
