Earline Van Haelen Thorne of Mobile, Alabama went to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 31,2026. Born on June 6, 1944 (D-Day) in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace “Smitty” Thorne III, and her parents Earl and Cecelia Van Haelen. Earline was a resident of Mobile, Alabama for the last 26 years. She leaves behind her Children: Pamela Skeath (Christian Skeath), Jeffrey Orkus (Rebecca Orkus), Michele LaGiudice (Charlie LaGiudice). Grandchildren: Cayce Skeath (Samantha Skeath), Emma Skeath; Ashley, William, Lofton, and Sarah Orkus; Harrison, Chloe and Cooper Brown; Evie Young. Great -Grandchildren : Reagan and Remington Skeath. Brother: Robert Van Haelen (Katherine Van Haelen). Earline was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church. She has been a member of the Mobile Deanery Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) for over 20 years. Earline was the Mobile Deanery President from 2014-2016. She served on the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women Board from 2014 until her death. She also chaired many Standing Committees. She was a devoted mom, grandmother and great-grandmother who was deeply loved and will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be on Saturday June 20, 2026 from 9am-10am with a Catholic Mass to follow at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 6300 McKenna Drive in Mobile. Interment to immediately follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL.
