Mrs. Barbara L. Jones was born on August 7, 1934 in Quitman, Mississippi and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Jones passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at the age of 86. Mrs. Jones was a 4th grade teacher at Prichard Christian Grade School before leaving to become an Administrative Assistant at Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company. She attended Government Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Webster Lewis, her sister, LaNelle Martin, and her husband Mr. W. A. Jones. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Terri (Patrick) Cahill, Jan (Richie) King, and also Jackie (Lance) Sherman of Manhattan Beach, California and Bill (Deborah) Jones of Mobile, Alabama. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Charity (Nicholas) Coaker, Cliff Copeland, Clint (Kristy) Copeland, Ricky (Dani) King and Trevor King, Michael Sherman, Dominic (Laura) Sherman, Amy (Todd) Coordt, Lori Sherman (Miguel) Hernandez, Archie Sherman, Stacey (Luke) O’Neil, and Katie (Rich) Joseph. Mrs. Jones also had seven great-grandchildren, Bryant Lee, Jennah Claire Lee, Blakelyn Coaker, Nikki Coaker, Katie Coaker, Maddie Lyon, and Harper Ruth King. Visitation will be on Thursday August 20, 2020 from 10 until 11AM at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday at 11AM, with a graveside at 12 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
