On July 7, 2021 our family lost our matriarch, Beufa Imogene (Olin) Green. She was born in Huron, South Dakota on August 24, 1924 and raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin, but has been a resident of Mobile, Alabama since 1957. She will be greeted in heaven by her husband of over fifty years, William Lawrence Green and her parents, Herman Lawrence Olin and Violet Mae (Behrens) Olin as well as her brother, Lawrence Dean Olin and her infant sons, Timothy James and James Allen Green.
Beufa (Buff) was a devoted military wife and mother, caring for a new baby while her husband was fighting in Korea. Later they moved to the University of Alabama campus with three young children so her husband could attend law school. They moved to Mobile, Alabama where Bill started a law practice and Beufa became an active member of the community while caring for her now five children. She was in the church circle and taught Sunday School at Cottage Hill Presbyterian, a boy scout den mother and room mother many times over. At the age of 48 with her four children still at home, she proudly graduated nursing school and began her own career.
After retirement she and Bill enjoyed traveling. They were always ready for an adventure. After losing her husband, Beufa began volunteering at the hospital and joined a senior group, staying active in her community. She will be missed by her children, Julianne (Mark) Leonard, William (Cindy) Green Jr., Richard (Rhonda) Green, Randall (Jeannie) Green and Gina Trammell. She is also cherished and loved by her grandchildren, Scott, Brian, Stephen, Kellie, Melissa, Lindsey, Kristen, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Melissa, Pam, Kevin, Thomas and Richard.
We will be sharing our memories and grief with her many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
