Billie Boney Baskin passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in the early hours of Wednesday, July 17th. Born in February 1932 in Choctaw County, Alabama to John and Ola Boney, she was a 1949 graduate of Choctaw County High School and Livingston State Teachers College in 1952. She married Charles Christopher Baskin in 1953 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2013.
She loved traveling around the country, and world, with Charles - first in the military and later for his work in global agriculture. They enjoyed many happy years at both Auburn University and Mississippi State University. But above all, she loved her family. Charles and Billie moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1992 to be close to their daughter Jeannine and her two children- Emily and Christopher, to whom she was affectionately known as "Gee." She never missed a school or sporting event; in fact, she and Charles were almost always the first ones there.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Brennity in Daphne, who have taken care of her since her onset of dementia in 2015. In particular, to Beverly, Elaine and Kathryn who went above and beyond since she reached memory care in 2017. There are not enough thank yous in the world to express our gratitude for the way you loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Baskin Weeks, brother John A Boney (Wylene), and grandchildren Christopher (Mary Katherine) and Emily Weeks. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House in Mobile or St. Jude's in her memory.
