Billie Pettis - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Billie Pettis

February 1, 2021
Billie Joyce Pettis, age 87, born February 24, 1933 in Hodge, LA and life-long resident of Mobile, AL, was called home to be reunited with her husband, Calvin Ollie Pettis and our dear Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Mrs. Pettis was a true blessing to everyone that knew her. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, read her Bible daily, prayed for her family and friends, and was never shaken in her faith. She had a remarkable loving heart, she sacrificed, and gave all for her family. Mrs. Pettis enjoyed cooking, reading, watching Christian television, writing poetry, sewing, creating arts and crafts, but most of all, just being a mother and the rock for her children and grandchildren. As the mother of seven children and wife of a career Navy husband, there were many years when she was at home raising kids with little support system around her. She actually never drove a car, yet she thrived in simply always finding a way! In her later and most recent years, Mrs. Pettis kept a great memory and unyielding stubbornness, despite her physical limitations. She and her family are grateful to all her caregivers that have been by her side. Mrs. Pettis and her husband, Ollie, were members of Life Church of Mobile, AL and in the first graduating class of Vigor High School in 1952. Her heavenly reunion includes her husband, Calvin Ollie Pettis, Sr.; two sons, Calvin Ollie, Jr. and Tony; two grandchildren, Kristofer and Mandy; and eleven siblings. She is survived by five children, Gregory Pettis, Suzanne (Darrell) Heathcoe, Deborah (Ellis) Cowart, Tina Robbins, and Jesse (Lisa) Pettis; brother, Randall Kelly, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 2:30 PM with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
