Billy J. Sullivan Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully Friday, May 15, 2020. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
He was born November 2, 1946, in Mobile, AL to Joe and Leola Sullivan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Billy was a born again Christian, and he loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music ministry. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baseball, but more importantly enjoyed doing these activities with his family and friends. Billy was always happy and upbeat and saw the positive in everything.
As Billy Sr’s two children — Billy Jr, born in 1971 and Edmond, born in 1975 — grew, they quickly became his favorite hunting and fishing buddies, and he never missed an event for the kids. Municipal Park baseball, football, or grilling burgers for John S. Shaw baseball games, he was always enthusiastic. During fishing and hunting trips he was the first one getting up and making coffee for all that wanted a cup or two.
He lived a full life and was one of the most genuine, kindest, and loving individuals you would ever meet. He touched many lives and his memory will live on for many years.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, and brother Freddy Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Sullivan, sons Billy Jr (Angel) and Edmond Sullivan (Stephanie), grandchildren Jackson, Grant, Justin, Madelyn, and Jacob, brothers Dale Sullivan (Laura), and Clyde Sullivan (Monica), sister Janette Wright (Randall) and sister-in-law Judy Sullivan. In addition, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
