Billy Rone Champion - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Billy Rone Champion

May 8, 2019
Billy was a man of faith, he loved his wife Darlene Davidson Champion of 54 years and was a wonderful father to his children, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Joey. Billy was born in Clarke County, Alabama, raised in Mt. Vernon, and married and settled in Saraland in 1969. He was a hard working man, from the age of 12 years old when he began work at the grocery store in Mt. Vernon. Early in his career, he worked at Ciba Geigy, Union Carbide and retired at Getty Oil Company aka Texaco aka Chevron in 2006 as Operator 1, making many friends along the way. He was always dependable and trustworthy. Family vacations at the beach, in the Smoky Mountains, and a cross-country senior bus trip will be cherished memories for years to come. His love of the outdoors and home improvement projects was shared in the many family gatherings around the pool, grilling out and birthday parties as well as other occasions. He was always proud to show of a new plant or tree in the yard. Billy was a sharped dress man in his cowboy boots, western belts and good smelling cologne! He always put his best foot forward, spoiled his wife, and was a great role model for his children. He was predeceased by his parents, Aaron Jerome Champion and Dessie Hare Champion; his brother, Gary Champion and is now whole again with the Lord. Billy is survived by his wife, Darlene Davidson Champion; son Jeffrey E. Champion; daughter Jennifer C.(Hirby) Meaux; son Joseph Aaron (Brandi) Champion; grandchildren Colby, Claire, and Dale "Hank" Stubbs and Jackson Champion; as well as numerous other family and friends. Serving as active pallbearers are Kyle Davidson, Lee Eubanks, Hirby Meaux, Patrick Daugherty, and James Overstreet. Honorary pallbearers are Earnest Odom, Harold Lewis, and Billy Davidson.
