Bishop Dr. Grady Gordon Jr. was born to Elder Grady Gordon Sr. and Missionary Geneva Gordon in 1951 in Mobile, AL, one of eight children. He departed this life for his eternal home on Monday, May 24, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.He was educated in the Mobile County Public School System (Blount High School). After high school, Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. attended Grambling State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science. In addition, he earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Alabama State and a Master's Degree in Administration from University of Alabama with a 4.0 GPA. Recently, on April 16, 2021, Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. received his Doctorate's Degree in Theology.Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. was saved under the guidance of Pastor Grady Gordon Sr., Founding Pastor of the Eleventh Street COGIC. He was ordained as a Minister in 1995 and ordained as a Elder in 1996 by Bishop O.L. Meadow Sr., Alabama First Esslesiastical Jurisdiction COGIC. Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. worked diligently by his father/spiritual leader until his passing. He was appointed the Pastor of Eleventh Street COGIC in 2005.Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. was the recipient of numerous awards and honors. He received the Principal of the Year Award (MCPSS-CLC), special recognition by Mobile Press Register for principal of the week, Certificate of Completion from Samford University and the Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies for Teaching Excellence.In addition, Bishop Dr. Gordon Jr. received several awards and certificates from the COGIC including Bishop Faithful Service Award, Certificate of Recognition for Assistant Dean and teacher of the O.L. Meadows School of Ministry, an associate school of Minnesota Graduate School of Theology. In addition, he received The Bread Of Life Certificate, The Worthy Certificate and Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding service and faithfulness to Eleventh Street Church and Mobile District COGIC. Lastly, a plaque recognition from Bishop A. Gatlin for his support to the International Sunday School Department of the COGIC (ISSD).He is preceded in death by his parents; Elder Grady Gordon Sr. and Missionary Geneva Gordon; son: Marcus Bell; siblings: Jacquleine Gordon Dickinson, Linda Ree Harris, and Mary Bolar.His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife: First Lady Odessa B. Gordon (Lady O); children: Retired Sergeant First Class Sherwanda Bell, United States Army of Gulf Breeze, FL, Honorable Navy Veteran Chemical Engineer Grady Gordon III, U.S. Navy (Danielle Gordon) of San Diego, CA, Pamela Haines (Travis Haines Sr.), LaPrenda Morrisette (Elder DeMario Morrisette), Doritha Bradley (Traveon Bradley), Tytianna Gordon all of Mobile, AL, grandchildren: Kayla Williams (Robert Williams, III), SPC Cornelius O'Cain, United States Army, Zyier Gordon and Sahara Gordon, three devoted grandchildren: Jace Morrisette, Paxton Morrisette and Micah Bradley, two great grandchildren, countless godchildren and one devoted godchild: Adrienne Smith English (John English). He leaves several siblings, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, one special friend: Mattie Lee, spiritual sons and daughters and his loving church family.Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Eleventh Street Church Inc. with public visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
