Brenda Merritt Clayton - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Brenda Merritt Clayton

April 5, 1950 ~ May 9, 2022 (age 72)
Upon meeting St. Peter and stepping through those Pearly Gates, Brenda Merritt Clayton celebrated her Victory on Monday evening, May 9, 2022, surrounded by her most beloved. She now walks the streets of gold and is sitting with the Father and His Son. She, for now, must part from her loving husband of nearly 30 years, Gerald Clayton. With her wings spread wide, she watches from Heaven, her three daughters: Ashley Sims Tanner (Ray), Stacey Sims Holbrook (Brad), and Amy Sims Prine (Justin); as well as three bonus children: Benji Clayton (Candice), Jeremy Clayton, and Carrie Clayton Harris (Jim). As the sun rises and sets, Nana will boast to her Heavenly Host of her grandchildren: Aaron Tanner (Kristen), Allie Tanner, Cole Holbrook, Logan Holbrook, Jack Prine and her newest Little "Fitz" Prine; Hunter Clayton, Breana Clayton, McKenna Clayton and Kenley Denise Clayton. She rejoices seeing her only great granddaughter, the sweetest Emma Grace. With the songs of birds she continues her love of her sweet siblings: her brother, Jimmy King (Carol), Her sisters, Eula Jones (Skipper), Glenda Chambers (her twin), and Nina Ward (Wayne); her Brother in Love, Adrian Clayton (Joyce); and two sisters in love, Elaine York (James) and Colleen Merritt (Malone). In His Glory, Brenda is hugging, laughing and sharing her light with some very Dearly Departed. She is met in Heaven by her parents: T.E. Merritt and Annie Mae Ray Merritt; her brothers, Robert King and Malone Merritt, and sister, Charlotte Davis (Steve); and a mother in love, Dora Lee Clayton. She smiles with a breeze, warm thoughts of many, many more friends, and dear family from cousins to nieces and nephews and others touched by our Angel while still here on Earth. She lived her life a resident of Mobile County, and, throughout it, Brenda loved being outside and active. She would ask you to join her for a walk in the woods, soil her hands in her gardening, bundle up to go hunting, or saddle up for a horseback adventure. She craved at all times to be with her family. She proudly labored to be of help and support for more than 30 years at Premier Medical for Dr. Andrew Terry, his team and patients. She inspired, she cared, and she listened. She was patient, kind, and helpful; but now...She is so much more!

  1. Sadness fills me yet joy swells and overflows me, for you are on the journey we all seek. The warmth and glow of our Lord God’s embrace. Thank you sweet Brenda for being such a special friend I will never forget. I and others are so blessed to have had you in our lives. Miss and love you my friend.

  2. My heart felt memories of a sweet friend from the neighborhood that always had a ready smile and great humor. So sorry and know she will be missed but know she is now in heaven with her loved ones and watching over those here missing her. Her twin Glenda has been a good friend and praying for her as they were connected from birth and both amazing women. Love and prayers to family and friends sent.
