Carolyn D. Twilley, age 83, of Mobile, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard N. Twilley, Sr. Carolyn is survived by her sons; Rick (Karen), Michael (Kathryn) and Ron (Darlene); six grandchildren; Brandon, Brianne (James), Brett (Ashton), Nicole , Alexandra (Alex) and Austin (Madeline); great-grandchildren; Landon, Olivia James, Isabell and Tate; a brother, Richard Cantey (Bobbie) and numerous nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents , Ray Davidson and Lois Cantey. She was blessed in so many ways, but her greatest joy was her family. She was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Her love of education began as a kindergarten teacher at Cottage Hill Baptist Church. Her many contributions to education included Mobile County Educators Credit Union. Her service to Murphy High School included coordinating and sponsoring the Azalea Trail, serving as Business Education Coordinator for over 20 years and being awarded as Outstanding Teacher of the Year. Most recently she enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the caregivers Earnestine and Sylvia, who cared for her so lovingly. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held at on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
A chapel service will be held at 11am on Saturday, 09/26/2020 from Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
