Charles Herbert Gibbons went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, September 29, 2019, after a long, heroic battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his son of 63 years, David Gibbons; his brother, Howell Eugene Gibbons, and his parents, Charles and Edelle Gibbons. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Grossenbacher Gibbons; sons, Charles M. Gibbons and Chris Gibbons; daughter-in-law, Terri Gibbons; daughter-in-law, Angela Gibbons; grandchildren, Shawn Gibbons and Brittani May; son, John Gibbons and daughter-in-law, Cindy Gibbons; grandchildren, Lauren Ballard, Johnny Gibbons, Joseph Gibbons, and Mary Lynne Gibbons; seven great-grandchildren, four step-daughters and sons-in-law, Penelope and Norman Faucette, Jennifer and Roy Blackmon Behymer, Patricia and Ricke Boyle, Melissa and Chance Donnell; other relatives and friends. Charles was born in Sylacauga, AL and later settled in Mobile where he served as Vice President of First National Bank for over 35 years. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1949-1956. Charles was a very generous man who loved his family dearly and lived to provide the very best for them. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
