Charles Lawrence Hopkins, Sr., a native of Mt. Vernon, AL and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL exchanged this life for eternity on August 31, 2019 at the age of 82. He served his country proudly as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. He worked over 40 years in the Civil Service. He was also a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist church and a member of American Legion Post 250. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi Hopkins, Sr. and Cornelia Ann Byrd Hopkins; his brothers Carl Hopkins and Levi Hopkins Jr., His sisters Obra Pharr and Addie Weaver. His survivors include his wife of 57 years Lucy DeLois Hopkins, son Charles (Regina) Hopkins, Jr.; daughter, Rhonda (Iain) Frost; brother, Paul (Joan) Hopkins; sister, Ollie Taylor; grandchildren, Jody Frost, Laura (George)Simpson, Kim (Robbie)Robison, Lena Frost (Matt), Chalyn (Dulan) Miller, Highland Frost; great-grandchildren Lucy Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Jordan Simpson, Lacey Robison, Charlie Robison, Gavin Frost, Ethan Frost, Kash Monahan and Harper Miller; other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Woodridge Baptist Church from 10:00am to 12:00pm at which time the Celebration of Life will be held. Dr. Mack Morris and Rev. Dean Hopkins officiating. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.

A chapel service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, 09/04/2019 from Woodridge Baptist Church, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
