Craig Campbell Gault - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Craig Campbell Gault

January 14, 1950 – December 18, 2022
Craig Campbell Gault, age 72 and resident of Katy, TX, passed peacefully to his eternal home on December 18, 2022. Craig was born on January 14, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA to John and Helen Gault. His family moved to Mobile, AL., when he was 12 years old. He attended University Military School (UMS) from seventh grade through high school graduation in 1967. His family joined Dauphin Way Baptist Church (DWBC) in 1964 and it was there that he met the love of his life Kathy Hanks. He attended Samford University (Birmingham) where he played intramural sports and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, pledge class of 1968. He graduated from Samford University in 1971 with a degree in Business. Following graduation, he returned to Mobile and entered the family waste-paper business which thrived under his ownership. Craig married Kathy in 1971 at DWBC. To this union were born two girls, Jennifer and Meredith. Craig was a tough, diligent and clever man. He faced every challenge with a plan, but when life produced obstacles, he simply produced workarounds. He used humor to put others at ease, especially in difficult situations. His interests included Phillies baseball, model trains, coaching softball, golf and the sights, sounds and smells of the Ocean City, NJ, boardwalk. He greatly loved his bride and family but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He came to faith in Christ at the age of 24, when confronted with the direct question, “If you die tonight will you go to heaven?” Craig surrendered his life to the Lordship of Christ which led to a life of service, including roles as deacon, interim youth pastor, and church administrator at DWBC, Tillman’s Corner Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church, as well as board member of Go and Tell Mexico Ministries and the Alabama Baptist Association. In 2017 he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. After much prayer, he was blessed to receive a left lung from an anonymous donor, a gift which allowed him to make lasting memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Some of his final words, were a charge to his children and grandchildren to love and follow Jesus and remain in the center of His will all the days of their lives. Craig is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy; children, Jennifer Dodge and her husband Greg of Katy, Texas, and their children Logan(21), Katherine(19), Abigail(16); Meredith Brown and her husband Dan of Richmond, Texas, and their children Christopher(25) and his wife Anna, Carter(24), Campbell(8), Coleman(7), and Caleb(4), as well as, his brother-in-law, Bob Hanks of Mobile, Alabama, his wife Raye, niece, nephew and cousins. John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
