David Jerral "Jerry" Grizzle, 79, of Chickasaw, AL, passed away, at home, on Saturday, September 7, after a long and fulfilling, Christ-centered life. Jerry’s favorite Bible verse was Psalm 19:14 – “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
Jerry was born on January 12, 1945, in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Murphy High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Mobile College.
Jerry met his wife, Elizabeth, in college, and they were married for 58 years. They have three children: Jeffery (Rebecca), Eric (Shirley) and Amy Lowe (Sean), nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In 2015, Jerry retired and spent time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, attending church services, Bible studies, hunting, fishing, relaxing, and encouraging others to grow in their faith in Christ. Jerry was a faithful member of Redemption Church in Saraland, AL, and a frequent guest at Chickasaw Methodist Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bernice Grizzle; his sister, Sally; his brothers, Steve and Skipper; his granddaughter, Laura Howard; and his nephew, Steven Grizzle.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Jeffery, Eric and Amy; his grandchildren, Sam, Delaney, Sarah, Ashlyn, Julianne, Matthew, Alan (Auburn), and Molly; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Luna, and Aiden; his sister, Kittie; his brother, Darin (Penny); and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, AL, on Thursday, September 12, from 5-7 pm. A graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, on Friday, September 13, at 2 pm.
