David Randolph Vial, native of Mobile, AL, entered eternal rest on August 25, 2023, at age 68, after a tenacious and courageous 3-year battle with cancer.
David loved his family, many friends and above all the Lord, with his whole heart. He lived a full, wonderful life but was not ready to give up his time on Earth because he still had so much to live for. In true Vial form, he fought to his very last breath.
David was a devoted husband and proud Papa D, never missing a chance to show off his beautiful family. Always true to himself, David will be remembered most for his big, unique personality. He was always collecting new friends wherever he went, even in the front yard with his sidekick Macaw, Titan. His home was a haven for many rescued pets throughout the years, and despite his complaints, he loved them all dearly, even the backyard raccoon clan. David was an enthusiastic Alabama football fan, and his roaring “Roll Tide” and howls at the TV, which could be heard across the neighborhood, will be greatly missed this season and on. New Years Day will never be the same without him to celebrate his birthday.
David was a graduate of Murphy High School, Class of 1973. He attended Providence School of Nursing and continued his education at UAB where he received a Certificate of Nurse Anesthesia in 1980. David was a dedicated, hard worker and practiced as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for over 40 years all throughout the state of Alabama.
He was a faithful servant of Christ and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where he attended grammar school and also married his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years, Tierney.
David was preceded in death by his father, Louis A. Vial, Sr. and mother, Bernadette Rose Vial. He is survived by his wife, Tierney Toifel Vial; three children, Brett (Toni) Vial, Laura (Ched) Graham, and Leslie Vial; five grandchildren, Zann Vial, Ava Vial, Ethan Graham, Evan Graham, and Olivia Graham; his brothers, Louis Vial, Jr., Sam (Sheila) Vial, and Joe (Janet) Vial; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
