David Reichart died April 4, 2022, after a long illness.
He was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Roy and Mary Jane Jones Reichart, followed by such a wonderful childhood in his mother's hometown of Kendallville, Indiana, that he always considered himself a Hoosier.
An accomplished baseball and basketball player, he was awarded a basketball scholarship to Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and later completed his bachelor's degree at the University of South Alabama.
He served two tours of duty in the Army in Vietnam and considered it a high honor that he was privileged to be an American soldier.
He worked with his family's insurance agency, but writing, always his passion, led to stints as editor of his hometown newspaper, a sportswriter for the Mobile PressRegister, and as a copywriter with his own agency. He eventually decided to focus on what he really wanted to do and drove an eighteen-wheeler to pay the bills while he went on to secure an agent, complete three screenplays and nine novels, and win a lot of fans for Jesse Yates, the ex-Navy Seal who is the hero of his Palm Court Detective series.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Glenn Croy of Butler, Indiana. He is survived by his wife Carol Schiavoni Reichart, their daughter Katie (Doug} Stokely, sister Pamela Reichart Croy of Butler, many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins-in-law, and by Linda, Jan, Beth, and Mike, the loving brother- and sisters-in-law who value his dry Hoosier humor, his virtue and goodness, and his many party shirts announcing that good times are coming.
An avid Braves fan since the club's days in Milwaukee, he met his wife Carol, a Mobilian, in Atlanta, who scandalized him by not knowing as much as he did about Henry Aaron.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Dominic's Catholic Church, followed by a big family party, with a date and time to be announced.
