Dawn Sawyer Cooper, born February 21, 1965, was the second of three children born to Wendell and Sandy Sawyer. On Friday, May 31st, 2019 Dawn left her Earthly home to return to her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her father, Wendell Sawyer.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother Sandy Sawyer; two sons Jacob (Holly) Cooper and Cameron (Lauren) Cooper; four grandchildren Alleigh, Caleb, Leo, and Quinn; and two brothers Del (Lee) Sawyer and John (Tracy) Sawyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles.
Dawn graduated from Davidson High School with the Class of '83, before continuing her work with the family business at Sawyer Furniture. There, she relished meeting new people and building relationships with customers and coworkers for over 20 years. She was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and missionary and sought to be of service to the Lord and others in any way she could. To her sons, she was a loving mother who taught them the value of integrity and compassion by more than words.
With an open heart and open home, she welcomed many and gave selflessly. She spent her life sharing joy with the people she met and insisted on seeing the best in everyone. She was an artist and adventurer and she spread her passion with others to learn new things, see new places, and be creative. Her memory will live on with her friends and family every time they show forgiveness, visit a beach, or see a piece of driftwood and think, "what could I do with that?"
A visitation for Dawn will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Redemption Church, 1251 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, AL 36571. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. A burial will occur at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama 36619.
