Deloris Sereda Hughes Daffin Hunt was born on January 31, 1938, to the late Willie and Hazel Hughes. A devoted sister, aunt, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was called home to rest on July 11, 2025, at the age of 87. Deloris was a proud alumna of Central High School (Class of 1956) and Alabama State University (Class of 1964). After completing her undergraduate studies, Deloris went on to teach in schools where she shared her passion for learning through physical education and history, impacting generations of students at Central High School, Vigor High School, Mae Eanes Middle School, and Murphy High School. On October 1, 1971, she married the love of her life, Larry T. Hunt. Together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage, grounded in mutual love and respect, until Larry's passing in 2023. Deloris also loved to fish and took great pride in her cooking, always eager to prepare a meal for the people she loved. Though she lived many places-Orlando, Greensboro, and New York-her heart was always anchored in family. She made sure to educate younger generations on the family lineage, carrying forward the stories, strength, and spirit of those who came before us. A devoted sports fan, Deloris especially loved football and basketball, often staying up late cheering on "her boy" Lebron James. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Willie Hughes, Jr., Marion Hughes, Celia Marshall, Fannie McCullum, and Carl Hughes. Deloris leaves to celebrate her life and cherish in her memory a loving daughter, Vangie M. (Olabode) Anise; step-son Victor C. (Marissa) Hunt Sr; three grandchildren: Olange (Jacob) Anise-Bluford, Annalise Anise and Olabode (Leah) Anise II; four step-grandchildren: Ashlyn Lanas Harvey, Larry Lanas Hunt, Victor Lanas Hunt Jr., and Aiyana Lanas Hunt; one great-grandchild: Olivia Bluford; a devoted sister-in-law: Myrtle Hughes; an unwavering cousin-in-law: Mattie Hunt; a loving nest of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends.
