Dewey Bernard Brown, age 77, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Byron Brown, Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth Boykin Brown; and his sister, Billie Kaye Chatoney. He is survived by his wife, Kaye Farrar Brown; daughter, Farrar Elizabeth (Daniel) Walsh; twin grandsons, Dewey Ethan Walsh and Daniel Bryson Walsh; brothers, Paul Finlay (Cathy) Brown and Andrew Byron (Elizabeth) Brown III; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Dewey grew up in Delta City, MS and moved with International Paper to Mobile, AL in 1967. He attended Hinds Junior Community College and Mississippi State University where he majored in civil engineering. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Dawes, where he served for many years as chairman of the deacons. Dewey and Kaye were lifelong sweethearts, having been married for 55 years. Dewey’s family was the center of his life, and he enjoyed following the lives and careers of his daughter, Farrar, and her family. Dewey had many hobbies including model airplanes, his love of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, guns, motorcycles, and cars. He never saw a car or motorcycle he didn’t like and want to buy. Active pallbearers will be Al Ayler, Ken Rhodes, Mike Chatoney, Van Walsh, Chris Brown, and Keith Brown. Visitation for Dewey Brown will be Thursday, June 25 from 10:00 AM -12:00 Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:00 Noon from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Please comply with social distancing. Facial masks are highly recommended.
