Donald Ray Summers, age 82, of Prichard, Alabama passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. Donald was born on Thursday, September 5, 1940, to Allan and Hattie Lucretia Williams Summers. He was a member of Shadowlawn Baptist Church for over seventy-six years. Donald was employed with Scott Paper Company known today as Kimberly Clarke for thirty-nine years. He was an umpire for the Alabama Softball Association, and in the Men's Major National Tournament. Donald help start the First responders at Scott Paper Company. He was Chief of volunteer fire department in Kushla, Alabama. For over fifty years Donald was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was Past Master of Bowen Lodge, and a current member of Semmes Lodge. Donald was a member of the Scottish Rite for over fifty years as well, and received the Red Hat Scottish Rite Service Award. He was an avid outdoorsman, always enjoyed hunting-fishing with family and friends. Donald will be remembered for being a devoted and loving husband, as well as a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jesse Leon Summers. Left to share Donald's memories will be his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Carolyn Elmore Summers; two daughters: Daphne Summers Reiser, Donna Summers Cooper (Rod); six grandchildren: Timothy John Macquiling Cooper (Jade), Courtney Nicole Cooper, Jordan Rae Reiser, Brayden Tyler Cooper, Klein Mitchell Payne Holman, Benjamin Riley Holman; two great-grandchildren: Saylor Ann Cooper, Gatlin Hayes Cooper; along with many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends. Honoring Donald as pallbearers will be Brayden Cooper, Tim Howell, Chip Elmore, Clifton Summers, Timothy Cooper, and Chase Howell. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Funk and Billy Harrison. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Susan Day, David Day, Missy Howell, Tim Howell, Larry Funk, Susan Holman, Dewayne Holman and Don Thomaston for the friendships, support, and prayers. A visitation for Donald will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from 10:30 AM until time of service at 12:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6110 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619.
