Mrs. Dorothy Ann Tackett Howell, a native of Bude, Mississippi and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Montgomery, AL, on Monday, July 27, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Howell and parents, Hayward and Lillie Kirkpatrick Tackett. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Daly Leffard, Mobile, AL; Nancy Howell Foley (Mark D. Foley, Sr.), Montgomery, AL; three grandsons, David R. Leffard, III (Caitlyn Leffard), Hopkinsville, KY; Mark David Foley, Jr. (Caitlin Foley), Tuscaloosa, AL; Andrew Thomas Foley (Katie Foley), Nashville, TN; and two great- grandchildren, Charlotte Meier Leffard and Mary Lawton Foley. Mrs. Howell was an elementary teacher in Jacksonville, FL and Mobile, AL in the 1950's. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1948 and Auburn University in 1952. At Auburn, she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority, a "Loveliest of the Plains" representative and Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. She was a member of Tristan de Luna NSDAR Chapter. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Crowne Nursing Home Activities Department, 1837 Upper Wetumpka Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36107.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, 08/03/2020.
