Dorothy Carolyn Stringfellow Pilgrim 89, went to be with our lord and savior on August 14th, 2023. Mrs. Pilgrim died peacefully surrounded by her three loving children.
Mrs, Pilgrim is a native of Laurel, Mississippi. She moved to Mobile, Alabama in the early 1950's. Dorothy was a Christian and dedicated member of the Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed the fellowship of church and did her best to contribute by helping in the nursery. She enjoyed singing in the choir and had a beautiful voice. Jesus is smiling now with Dorothy at His side.
Dorothy worked part-time as a substitute teacher for the Mobile County School System where she enjoyed the interactions with the children. Dorothy's hobbies included gardening and reading. She had a green thumb when it came to growing her array of flowers. More than anything else in her life she loved spending time with her family. She was always there to listen with open loving arms full of hugs. The hugs were a hundred fold when the great grandkids came along.
Mrs. Pilgrim is survived by her three children, Joey (Rebecca) Pilgrim, Judy Watson, David (Irene) Pilgrim; grandchildren Wayne (Stacey) Warren, Matthew (Amy) Warren, Gabriel Watson, Brandy Watson, Chad (Desiree) Pilgrim, Marina Pilgrim, David Hutto, Bree Mays; brothers Freddy (Ernestine) Stringfellow and Ricky (Valerie) Stringfellow, also a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Pilgrim, son Jeffrey Pilgrim, parents Lonzie and Mildred Stringfellow, brothers L. R. (Buddy) Stringfellow and Don Stringfellow, and sister Linda Ann Warren.
As Dorothy's health declined, she became a resident of the Mobile Nursing and Rehabilitation Home. The family would like to thank the entire staff for their care of our mother during her stay and especially during the hours of her passing. We also would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their prompt attention to every small detail during this difficult time.
Mrs. Dorothy Pilgrim was the most gracious loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will always be loved and greatly missed by all of us.
