Dorothy Fay Spear Nichols, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to meet her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in her Florida home at the age of 81, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Nichols was a native of Demopolis, Alabama, born October 16, 1942, and a longtime resident of Chickasaw, Alabama. Mrs. Nichols, a Master’s degree graduate as media specialist/librarian, pioneered one of the first computer labs in public school, often featured in television news, retired from E. R. Dickson Elementary School. She was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. She loved books, beaches, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Walton Nichols, her parents Charles Wesley and Lillian Spear, sisters Estelle Money, Betty Caples, Jackie Mann, brother Bill Spear. Mrs. Nichols is survived by two daughters, Carmen Leigh Nichols Bailey of Panama City Beach, FL and Angela Fawn Nichols (Husband Scott) Dew of Panama City, FL, four grandchildren, Olivia, Morgan, Grace, Audra, five great-grandchildren, Keegan, Keeleigh, Kashius, Kreed, Graysen, Tenni Wren, one sister, Elizabeth Anderson, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
