Dr. James M. Ward – born on January 29, 1934 in Dothan, Alabama to parents Audie J. and Lena Elisabeth Ward, passed away in Fairhope, Alabama on September 3, 2020. He graduated from Kinston High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-55, spending fourteen months of this time in Bremerhafen, Germany. Dr. Ward graduated from Auburn University in 1964 and practiced veterinary medicine in Opp, AL from 1964-69. He then moved to Saraland, AL where he opened the first veterinary clinic and practiced at this location for 42 years. Dr. Ward was a member of the Mobile VMA and Alabama VMA. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Herschel Edwin Ward. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elke Ward; children, Wes Ward, Turner Ward (Donna), Wade Ward (Colette), Jay Ward, Jodi Ward, and Lance Ward (Lynn); step-son, Barry Strickland; sister, Betty Bahl; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, 09/09/2020 from Radney's Funeral Home in Saraland, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
