Elinor Smith Castleberry, age 91, longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy F. and Ethel Donaldson Smith, and sisters, Annie Jeanne Williamson and Eunice Pressler.
Mrs. Castleberry worked for many years as a clerk typist for the U. S. Civil Service. She enjoyed gardening and working outdoors and loved to dance. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted and beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy.
Elinor is survived by her husband, Bennett L. Castleberry and children; Cheryl Collicott (Donna), Pamela Nold (James), Angie Castleberry Whatley(William) and Bennett "Bubba" L. Castleberry, Jr.(Cheryl). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Taylor Broadrick, Morgan Howell, Ben Castleberry, III (Brandy), John Cole Castleberry (Brittany), Trenton Strickland, Kelly Strickland and nieces, Anne Rhodes and children; Anne Ferrell Dalton (Michael), William Rhodes (Meagan), Dawn Wilbanks and son Raymond Neil McMillan,III and other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be offered to Josephine Baptist Church, P. O. Box 247, Elberta, AL 36530.
