Emily G. Brown, 97, a lifelong resident of Theodore, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born to Orie C. Gray, Sr. and Gladys A. Gray on March 26, 1924 in Mobile, Alabama. She was a graduate of Theodore High School and Huffstetler Business College, preparing her for her many years as a secretary for local insurance companies, the Trust Department of First National Bank of Mobile and a law office. She also enjoyed her time as a teacher's aide at Theodore High School as a typing teacher. Emily was a lifetime member of Community of Christ Church in Bayou La Batre, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed playing the piano and violin, drawing, painting, crocheting, gardening and baking. One of her greatest enjoyments was visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emily is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joe M. Brown; and her brother, Orie C. Gray, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Jo Duke; her son, Alfred C. Brown, Sr. (Jacoba); grandchildren, Bryan Duke (Kristen), Clint Brown (Melanie) and Chris Brown; great-grandchildren: Colton and Brynn Duke and Hayden and Camden Brown; two nieces, Susan Stringfellow and Kay Bowab; and other family and friends.
