Eva Jane Hudspeth - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Eva Jane Hudspeth

1930-2021
Eva Jane Hudspeth was born May 1, 1930, in Sturgis, MS, and went to her Heavenly home on June 9, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 91. Eva was the Salutatorian of her 1950 Sturgis High School class and won many beauty contests in Oktibbeha County, MS. She was married on March 12, 1950, to Eudell Hudspeth and they recently celebrated together their 71st wedding anniversary. She was a substitute teacher in the Mobile County Public School System, where the kids affectionately referred to her as Mrs. Butterworth’s. She worked as a secretary at Brookley Field, Turner Supply, Simmons Warehouse, Assured Title, and retired while working at Tanner Pecan where she was the "Face" of the company. She enjoyed her church, Forest Hill Church of God, where she served as Sunday school secretary, sang in the church choir, and made hand sewn quilts for ALL the new babies at the church. She was a Brownie leader volunteer, took care of stray cats and turtles, loved butterfly pins and flowers, flowers, flowers. You knew she liked something if she said, "that's Gooder-N-Snuff". You knew you had said something disappointing if she said, "Uh-Ga-Ly, Uh-Ga-Ly, Uh-Ga-Ly". You knew to be wary if she said, "First your money, then your clothes". And you knew what you said or did wasn't important if she said, "No-one’ll know the difference a hundred years from now". You knew she loved you when she greeted you with "I love you Darlin". She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joe Hubbard McClelland, Sr. and Ludie Virginia McClelland, her siblings, James Calvin McClelland, Joe Hubbard McClelland Jr., and Mattie Louise McClelland Moorhead, and her niece Eva Joyce McClelland. She is survived by her husband Eudell Hudspeth, two daughters: Beverly Delgado and husband Rudy, Barbara Peterson and husband Donnie, grandchildren: Stewart Slater and wife Rebekah, Mike Peterson and wife Mitzi, Derek Peterson, Andrea Slade and husband Jason, Great Grandchildren, Preston Slater, Anakin Slater, Benjamin Slater, Andon Peterson, Caroline Peterson, Maddie Slade, Bryan Slade, along with extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Memorial may be made in honor of Eva Hudspeth to Project Purr Animal Rescue; mailto:projectpurr@aol.com, 1-251-382-6692. Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, June 11, 2021, in the sanctuary of Forest Hill Church of God, Mobile, Alabama with Bro. Daniel Blaylock officiating under the direction of Radney Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Mobile Memorial Garden, Mobile, Alabama.
