Mr. Fred G. Hildesheim, Sr. – 99 years old, born March 19, 1913, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and a longtime resident of Mobile, passed away from his temporary home on Saturday February 23, 2013. He was a very strong and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lola Hildesheim, and his daughter, Joyce Hildesheim Weir Evans. His wife, Lola Hildesheim, was born Jan. 1, 1925, and died on May 21, 2004. They enjoyed 57 years together here on earth and now they are back in each other’s arms in Heaven forever. Left behind to cherish the memories are his two sons, Fred G. Hildesheim, Jr. (Nading) and Paul D. Hildesheim, (Mellanie); eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Hildesheim retired from Mobile Pulley Works. After retiring Fred & Lola traveled to every continent in the world and always had a great story to tell about every trip. Fred was a great man that led his family by example, extending his experiences in life to everyone he met especially his grandchildren. He was a 32 degree mason and a very active member of Eight Mile United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Dignity Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Richardson, Chris Reed, Mark Atcheson, Scott Weir, Trey Hildesheim, and Mark Davis.
