Reverend Glenn Farrel Bryars, age 88 of Mobile, Alabama passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family, on January 3, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1937, in Perdido, Alabama, to James Merl and Flaudia Mae Bryars. Brother Glenn Bryars pastored multiple churches in the Mobile and Baldwin counties, most notably the Theodore Church of God for 18 years before retiring and serving as interim pastor for other congregations until his health declined. He also served on the Ministerial Examining Board for the Church of God where he willingly offered guidance to younger ministers, mentoring them to better serve their congregations for Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Prior to becoming a full-time minister, Glenn F. Bryars proudly and honorably served a total of 22 years in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959, and re-enlisted in 1961, retiring in February 1979. He was awarded the Bronze Star during his tour of duty in Vietnam 1969-1970. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant, before retiring, developing and training other enlisted Airmen throughout his career through exceptional leadership and skill. Glenn F. Bryars had his private pilot’s license for many years and enjoyed flying his planes and sharing his joy of flying with others. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling with his family and was known for his faith, generosity, and his sense of humor. He touched and influenced the lives of many throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Merl and Flaudia Mae Bryars, his brother, James Merl Bryars, Jr, and his sisters Betty Margrete Lindsey, and Doris Raye Rieben. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Jo Bryars, his five children Glenita Jo Sawyer (Mark), Glenn Gareth Bryars (Elisa), Kevin Darrin Bryars (Pam), Vicki Moniac Dennis (Greg), Levitia Gaye Simmons (James), 16 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren; his brothers, Anthony Royce Bryars (Ressie), and David Emmanuel Bryars, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Oak Park Church at 3321 Sollie Road, Mobile, Alabama on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
