Gwenda Darleen Jones passed away peacefully at her home on September 2nd, 2024. She was born January 23, 1951 to William L. and Violet E. Nelson.
Darleen spent her life making friends. She never met a stranger. Her vivacious personality and love for life always brought fun and laughter to those she was around. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States as a truck driver. She spent her time crocheting blankets and making wreaths to give to others. Above all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Darleen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Violet Nelson and her brother, Bernie Nelson. She is survived by her daughters; Melody (Theo) Lundy of Mobile, Al. and Wendy (Lee) Dickson of Grand Bay, Al.; her grandson, John Waldrop of Mobile, Al.; her siblings, Gerald Nelson (Betty) of Orange Beach, Al., Mike Nelson (Tonya) of Grand Bay, Al., and LaNell Cole (Randy) of Demopolis, Al. ; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Mobile Memorial Gardens on September 14, 2024 at 11:00 with Tim Sullivan officiating. Family and friends may line up at 10:45 to begin the funeral procession.
