Haskell Lee “ Buddy” McAllister, born in Saltville, VA on January 20, 1932, passed away on January 02, 2021 in Mobile, AL. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He cherished being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
While serving in the Korean War he earned two bronze stars, and upon honorable discharge, was employed by Olin Chemical Corporation for 34 years. During retirement he enjoyed working as a licensed real estate agent for both Century 21 and Tri-Star Realty. He spent many hours as an avid girls softball fan and enjoyed watching his granddaughters play from the time they were small children until they graduated college. He also loved to square dance and valued the friendships gained through each of the members. He is preceded in death by his parents, William (Mary) McAllister of Saltville, VA; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Keesee of Saltville, VA and Mr. & Mrs. John Jones of Saltville, VA; a sister, Mildred (Warren) McAllister Olinger of Marion, VA; and a brother, Lowell McAllister of Cleveland, TN. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Carol J. Anderson McAllister; son Jeffery Lee (Eliese) McAllister; two precious granddaughters, Brittney Lee McAllister and Valerie Eliese McAllister (Rob) Thames; two great grandsons, Ryland Lee Thames and Beau Robinson Thames of Madison, MS; sister Rita McAllister Davidson of Saltville, VA; brother -in-law David Anderson and his wife Glenna of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law Eunice McAllister of Clinton, TN; and several other nieces and nephews in Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. He was a former member and served in various officer capacities in the Mobile Square Dance Association, Mobile Realtor Association, the Alabama State Realtor Association, Veterans of Foreign War, and Golf Vista Condominium Homeowners Association (Pigeon Forge, TN). A Celebration of Life for Haskell Lee “Buddy” McAllister will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel. The chapel will be open for visitation with the family at 10am and the service will begin at 11:00.
