Hazel Raley Moore, passed away peacefully from this life at home in the early morning hours of January 27, 2024, at the age of 100. Hazel was born on July 30, 1923, in Merdian, in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, to James Harvey Riley, Jr. and Lucille Warren Raley. She lived most of her young life in Mobile, Alabama. Hazel was known to family and friends as a charming and kind southern lady who lived her life with humility and grace. She accepted everyone with an open heart and a perpetual smile. She had an intelligent and constantly curious mind. She loved to dance and attended many ballroom and square dances. She loved gardening and always had fresh flowers and vegetables. She also loved to travel. One of her favorite places to visit was the mountains in North Georgia. In her later years, she learned the art of painting and produced numerous works of art for her family members to enjoy. Her loss will be deeply felt by her family. Hazel is predeceased by her father, James Harvey Raley, her mother, Lucille Warren Raley, a son, Raymond Lee Moore, Jr. (Mary) of Spanish Fort, AL, her stepfather, James D. Hewitt and her former spouse, Raymond Lee Moore, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn M. Satterwhite (Gordon) of Daphne, AL; a brother, Roy Raley (Jean) of Meridian, MS; a sister, Mary Reeves (Al) of Quitman, MS; grandson, Harry V. Satterwhite, Sr. (Aline) of Mobile, AL; granddaughter, Dana S. Palmer (Joe) of Daphne, AL; grandson, Raymond Lee Moore, III (Beth) of Mobile, AL; six great-grandchildren, Melanie K. Eyler, Harry V. Satterwhite, Jr., Jackson M. Satterwhite (Whitney), Samuel W. Satterwhite, Chad Moore (Alexandria), and Brayden Moore; three great-great-grandchildren, Emmie Eyler, Finley Moore and Maverick Moore; and many other nieces and nephews. Hazel worked at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, Alabama, as a civilian quality control analyst for many years until the base closed in 1969. Hazel then moved to Robins Air Force Base near Warner Robins, Georgia, where she was employed for many more years until her retirement in 1989. After retirement, Hazel moved back to the Mobile area to be with her family, and her last residence was located in Daphne, Alabama. Special thanks are given to her dedicated caregivers who provided Hazel with excellent care.

A visitation will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, AL in the Immaculata Center at 10AM. Immediately following the visitation there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at the church to begin at 11AM. Interment will take place at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6040 Three Notch Road in Mobile.
