Herbert Peavy Kinsey, M.D. (84) was born December 6, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama. On June 13, 2020, he completed a life of service to others and began his eternal life with Christ. Bert was a dedicated physician and surgeon. He graduated from Spring Hill College and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Alabama in Birmingham. In 1964, he completed his surgical training at St. Vincents Hospital and Lloyd Nolan Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. During his 61 years of practice, he delighted in getting to know his patients and their families. Bert never met a stranger! For the past 41 years, he has given himself to local and international medical missions, including Central and South America, Africa, the Hope Center in Fairhope, and the Alabama Free Clinic in Bay Minette. In the words of one of his colleagues, “That chance meeting with Bert changed my career path. All of my former residents who now go to Honduras are physical proof of what he still means to me. I pray he is proud of us all.” His spiritual ministry was manifested in his medical career. Bert and Mary are members of Fountain of Faith Baptist Church in Creola, Alabama. Bert was a dedicated husband and father who passed on his love of the outdoors, fishing, and hunting to his children.. He was predeceased by his parents Martin David Kinsey and Elsie Audrey Kinsey, and his siblings Dorothy Floyes, Martin David Kinsey,III, and Clara Brazil. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Kinsey, children; Elizabeth (David) Cypher, Mark (Marcie) Kinsey, Keven Kinsey, Steve (Terri) Kinsey and Sandy (Ralph) Lowe. Grandchildren; Marc (Mary Beth) Swain, Rachel Swain, Ryan (Ben) Spencer, Lauren (JT) Miller, Drusilla Cowen, Pierce Kinsey, Keegan Kinsey, Devin Kinsey, Thomas (Emily) Kinsey and Ashley Kinsey. Graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 10:00am. His wish is for memorial donations to be made to Hospital Socorro de lo Alto which is the Honduras hospital he was instrumental in founding.
