Howard Eugene Quinley of Magnolia Springs, AL was born on Nov. 13, 1931 to William Arthur and Lulu Bell Peacock Quinley. He died April 15, 2013 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center at the age of 81.
Mr. Quinley graduated Evergreen High School in 1951, when he joined the Army National Guard and served to 1953. He was mobilized during the Korean War, rising to the rank of CPL as a cannoneer in the 117th Field Artillery 31st Division.
Mr. Quinley married Lena Faye Stephens of Stroud, AL on Sept. 17, 1955. He answered the call to the ministry in 1961, graduating William Carey College with a BA in 1965 and New Orleans Baptist Theology Seminary in 1972. He pastored six churches before retiring to Magnolia Springs in 1989, where he lived out his life.
Mr. Quinley is survived by his wife, Faye Quinley; sons, Mike Quinley of Ocala, FL and Bill Quinley of Magnolia Springs, AL; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Elmer Quinley of Flatrock, AL; and sister, Mamie Porter of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Diane Quinley; grandson, Matthew Stephen Quinley; brother, Herman Quinley; sister, Aline Quinley; and his beloved dog, Bosco. He was a beloved husband, father, and brother.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, AL. The visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service.
Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Mobile Memorial Garden, Mobile, AL.
