Ina Floyd

May 26, 2023
Ina Claire Hatchett Floyd, age 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 25, 2023. Just two days away from her 86th birthday, Ina Claire passed away at her home in Theodore, Alabama, cared for and surrounded by her loving family. One of five children, she was born on May 27, 1937, in the town of Grand Bay, Alabama, to parents Vassie and Alton Hatchett. She met and married her husband of 54 years at the age of eighteen, and went on to become a loving wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother.   Ina devoted her life to serving her family and her Lord. She was a member and pillar of The First Baptist Church of Irvington, in Irvington, Alabama, for her entire adult life, where she taught Sunday School for more than fifty years. Ina touched thousands of young children's lives during that time, sharing the love of God with each of them, including her own children and grandchildren. She loved church on Sunday, followed by a good 'ol, Southern, home cooked lunch, surrounded by the people she loved and cared for. Food was a big part of how she showed love. Her made-from-scratch biscuits could change your life. She also loved working in her yard and tending to her flower beds. Nurturing and watching things grow was a way of life. She loved Church's Chicken and rarely passed up a good yard sale or wicker basket. She loved any and all seasonal decor and went all out for every holiday. Ina Claire was the epitome of a matriarch and Godly woman. She was "the constant" in so many people's lives.   She is reunited with her husband, George Raymond Floyd, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2009. She is survived by her three daughters: Cheryl Lynn Floyd Carrigan (husband- Robert Carrigan), Catherine Louise Floyd, Tonja Gaye Floyd; Her only son, George Raymond Floyd, III (wife- Beverly Floyd); Her seven grandchildren: Christopher Ray Murrill, Elizabeth Ann Murrill Rachel, Holly Renee Clark Bridges (husband - Blake Bridges), Hannah Nicole Bice Goff (husband - Hunter Goff), Mary Claire Bice, Connor Raymond Floyd, Mary Madison Floyd; and her three great-grandchildren: Olivia Claire Bair, Makayla Lynn Bair, and Ashley Blake Bridges.   Ina Claire Floyd treasured her family and her faith. In her final days, her heart and mind were stayed on one thing - did the people she loved have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Did they know the love of The Father and the good news of His only Son? He died for the sins of the world and was resurrected to new life so that we, too, might one day be where He is, which is where she is now and forever more, in the arms of our heavenly Father. Amen
