It is with a heavy heart that we announce Jacalyn Leigh Jaramillo was taken to meet her lord and departed this life peacefully in the morning hours of November 23, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile, AL. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of so many throughout her time here on this earth with her kind spirit.
Born on July 30, 1954, Jacalyn was the loving daughter of the late William Jackson Gurganus and Janice Sue Gurganus. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Cassandra Sue Malone, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Paul Jaramillo, and devoted daughter, Natasha June Salandanan, who carries forward her mother's legacy of compassion and resilience. Jacalyn was a proud and loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Brandon Nicolas Garcia, Nathan Alexander Ballew, Dustin Jase Ballew, and her only granddaughter, Jaycin Miya Moyd, who held a special place in her heart and will miss her grandma dearly. Jacalyn also leaves behind a multitude of cherished family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth, generosity, and kindness.
As a child, her sweet and agreeable nature earned her the nickname "Me Too" amongst her cousins and other family. She graduated from Vigor High School, where she participated in the school marching band throughout her high school career. After graduation, she ventured out to new cities, married, and settled down to start her family in Galveston, TX. She eventually returned to spend her final years in her hometown of Mobile, AL. All who remember Jacalyn fondly recall the immense tenderness she expressed to everyone and how her loving and sweet nature touched every person she encountered. She will be deeply missed, and her legacy will forever be remembered and live on in the hearts of those blessed and fortunate enough to have known her.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Family viewing will take place from 12-1 pm, followed by a public visitation from 1-2 pm, and service immediately following. Jacalyn's memory will be celebrated with love and remembrance, surrounded by family and friends who will carry her spirit and unwavering kindness with them always. She is now at rest, reunited with her parents and sister embracing eternal peace.
