JAMES FREDERICK AKRIDGE, born in Bayou La Batre, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the age of 87. He retired from International Paper Company after 40 years of service; served in the US Naval Reserve and was a US Air Force Veteran. He was a Murphy High School graduate and attended 20th Century Business College. Jim loved golf, bowling, sports in general and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Moates Akridge; his parents, Fritz F. Akridge and Amy Wolfe Akridge; and four sisters, Irene Akridge Murphy, Ruth Akridge Anderson, Doris Akridge Steiner and Virginia Akridge Collins. His survivors include two sons, Michael “Mike” J. (Sandy) Akridge and Stephen “Stevie” (Lynn) Akridge; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mr. Akridge’s name to Blessing of the Animals, c/o St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1707 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36604.

A chapel service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, 01/28/2020 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
