Mr. James Beard, Sr., age 90 of Mobile, Alabama went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021. James was born in Choctaw County, Alabama on November 23, 1930. He was a United States Army veteran who served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. James worked as a Traffic Manager in the Steamship Industry in Mobile for more than 40 years. He was currently a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for Woodmont Baptist Church before it closed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earlie and Maggie Dell Beard and sister, Earl Elizabeth LaMountain. James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Imogene Beard; daughter, Shirley Beard Guy; son James O. Beard, Jr (Teresa); grandchildren, Mallory Carr (Zach), Amy Rhodes (Michael), Megan Beard, Ashley Gillis (Andrew), Kris Beard, Kelcie Watkins (Travis), Lindsey Cothran; great-grandchildren, Lorelei Rhodes, Grady Gillis, Sawyer Watkins, Garrett Cothran (Caitlyn), and Aniston Cothran; Great-Great grandchild, Evelyn. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
